A Dream Born
in a Village.
It started in 2020, during a quiet afternoon in Kampung Sungai Haji Dorani — a small fishing village on the west coast of Selangor. Our founder, Amirul, was visiting his grandparents and realised that the warmth and richness of kampung life was something the world had never truly experienced.
Most travellers stayed in city hotels, disconnected from the soul of Malaysia. He imagined a platform where host families could share their homes, their food, their stories — and where guests could wake up to the sound of roosters, paddle through mangroves, and learn to make rendang over an open fire.
Four years later, Embun Homes has grown to over 250 verified host families across 12 Malaysian states, all certified to ASEAN Homestay Standards — preserving culture while empowering communities.

Born in Kampung Sungai Haji Dorani, Amirul left a tech career to build the platform he wished existed when he was growing up. He personally interviews every host family.
